Humair Ahmad is a social and affordable housing specialist. An architect and urban planner by education, he is currently the Director Community and Affordable Housing at Homes NSW. Humair has played a direct role in the growth of the community housing sector in NSW by leading initiatives such as the Social Housing Management Transfers, Community Housing Innovation Fund and Together Home which is NSW Government’s key Housing First initiative. Previously he was involved in the asset vesting program which transformed the community housing sector in NSW. Humair also oversees the delivery of a range of crisis and transitional housing, private market head leasing, homelessness, and affordable housing programs. Over the last 15 years Humair has supported achievement of social and affordable housing outcomes through robust commissioning of services in a complex multi-provider housing system. Before moving to Australia, Humair worked on various low cost housing and infrastructure projects for people living in urban informal settlements and disadvantaged rural areas.
